As we enter into the Christmas season, the Gospel Choir of our church and its fearless leader Mary Lou Lim (director), would like to offer you a gift. It’s a project they’ve been working on together for two months to bring you encouragement during this challenging time. It’s something I’m excited about and I hope you will be too!
The video that you are about to watch is made up of the Aaronic Blessing (Numbers 6:22–27), which is turned into a song. It is one that has deep resonances with the Christmas message:
“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation,” Luke 1: 46-50
Mary spoke these words upon receiving the annunciation from the Angel Gabriel. She saw the miracle of infant Jesus unfolding. She was blessed and recognized this Christmas joy would extend from generation to generation.
As you watch this video of four generations from our church of singers, I invite you to experience joy and encouragement. Let the words wash over you and allow each scriptural phrase to enhance your Advent experience as well as God’s hedge of projection.
Yours in Christ,
