C. S. Lewis and the Crisis of a Christian – By Greg Cootsona

OVERVIEW:
We face crises in our lives and we see them in our world today. You are invited to grow in faith during this course by learning from one of the greatest Christian writers of the 20th century.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) remains one of today’s most popular Christian authors almost sixty years after his death. One reason is that he guides us as readers through our struggles with his wise and winsome words. Why? Because he faced major crises in life (such as two world wars, the Great Depression, and the death of his wife) and found resolution and profound joy through his faith in Christ. In this class, we will look at Lewis’ writings and discover why he still speaks in the crises we face today. Together we will learn and grow in our faith by learning from one of the greatest Christian writers of the 20th century, and how he dealt with crises.

DISCIPLESHIP COURSES ON ZOOM

LEARN MORE & REGISTER
DATES: Thursdays, September 9 – October 7, 2021
TIME:
9:30AM – 11:00AM (via Zoom)

LEADERS:
Steven Koch,
Ric Machuga, Allen McCallum

OVERVIEW:
Join in fun conversations with a chance to make new Zoom friends and renew old friendships while diving into theological topics that cover themes of Ephesians!

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
This class will discuss some of the great passages in Ephesians. What does it mean when Paul says that the “God who created all things” is “above all and through all and in all?” When Paul says that God’s good pleasure is “to gather up all things in Him, things in heaven and things on earth,” does this include all people living and dead? Since we are “saved by grace,” what does it matter how we live or what we do? And if, as Paul says, God has already destined the Ephesians for salvation, then why does he still pray for them? These are just a few passages we will discuss on Zoom.
